Three File Types

JavaScript Programming is the glue that holds together the HTML 5 and the CSS 3. These two technologies have been designed with "hooks" for the JavaScript Framework to connect to and exchange data. JavaScript is a Simple, Easy, straight-forward Language. Although it's original purpose was much simpler than it has grown to be; it is HIGHLY supported with transpilers, frameworks, library plugins, and a HUGE amount of API's. These extra Languages and Frameworks get Transpiled (TypeScript) into good old fashioned JavaScript (vs. ES5).

Three File Types

Post by james » Wed Sep 26, 2018 7:28 am

Every website is built with three file types -- they could all be in one file, but there are (ONLY) three types; each controlling separate functions.

The HTML file (*.html) provides the structure and content of the website.
The CSS file (*.css) provides the presentation and specifications of the website.
The JavaSript file (*.js) handles the behavior of the site.

There are variations and additions that can be made with these three types...

CSS is the most structured Language of the bunch; but adding some programming Language Constructs gives us SASS. (Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets). Poof! A new language where there was none!

JavaScript has a bunch of flavors also: jQuery, Angular, Node, React (which is actually a hodgepodge of the other two), and hundreds more!

Yet, even with the thousands of additional variations of these three file types (html, css, and javascript), websites, at their "syntactical core" depend on just three languages.
